Native to Japan and China, Japanese knotweed is an excellent source of resveratrol, the beneficial chemical compound found in red wine. Japanese knotweed contains high concentrations of trans-resveratrol, the active form of the compound that is best absorbed and utilized by the body. Research shows trans-resveratrol has anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties, and helps to maintain healthy cardiovascular function, protect against cell damage and neurodegenerative diseases, A study found that trans-resveratrol lowered blood pressure in mice, consistent with prior studies.5, 6

Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) Flower
Several studies have found that hibiscus tea may lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. In one study, 65 people with high blood pressure were given hibiscus tea or a placebo. After six weeks, those who drank hibiscus tea had a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure, compared to the placebo.21
Nattokinase
Derived from fermented soybeans known as natto, nattokinase is a highly beneficial probiotic enzyme that promotes a healthy digestive system. Nattokinase also helps to thin the blood, and break up blood clots. This suggests it might protect against heart disease, and conditions caused by blood clots such as stroke and heart attack.22, 23

Odorless Garlic Bulb Extract
Throughout history, garlic has been used for its medicinal purposes. Garlic’s main mechanism involves a molecule called alliin. When garlic is physically disturbed, it releases an alliin metabolite: allicin. Allicin turns into a variety of fat and water soluble sulfur-containing compounds. By tapping into the hydrogen sulfide signaling system, garlic relaxes the blood vessels and provides a wide variety of health benefits. Garlic extract has been shown to benefit heart health, physical and sexual vitality, improve cognition, and increase immunity.20
Pomegranate Fruit Extract 5:1
Pomegranate is ostensibly the most beneficial fruit for the heart due to its robust profile of tannins and anthocyanins that increase the activity of enzymes that breakdown oxidized lipids in cholesterol and decrease blood pressure. Several clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of pomegranate consumption for reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and improving biomarkers of cardiovascular function. One study even found that patients who consumed pomegranate daily for 3 months had reduced their oxidized LDL cholesterol levels by 50%. Similar results were produced in another study that found 12 months of daily pomegranate consumption reduced serum free radical-induced oxidation by upwards of 62%. While consuming pomegranate fruit and juice may be beneficial, this comes at the cost of consuming high amounts of fructose (“fruit sugar”). Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol)
Vitamin D3 is structurally similar to cholesterol and serves as the storage form of vitamin D in the body. It is converted via the liver and kidneys to its bioactive form calcitriol, which goes on to play a multitude of roles in the body.
